Cabo San Lucas A Vacation Paradise
by Alex & Gina Moulder

If you're looking to plan a travel destination to a beach resort type area,
Cabo San Lucas at the Southern tip of Baja California is your best bet.

With an average of 350 sunny days a year, temperatures in the low eighties and water sports to be had everywhere, Cabo is an excellent vacation destination for the entire family. The food is cheap, the drinks are cheap and well, the activities are Not so cheap!

I strongly recommend staying at a hotel close to town. There are a variety of Hotels that stretch "the corridor" from the airport in San Jose Del Cabo, about 30 km away, all along the southern tip of baja to the town of Cabo itself. I noticed that most travel agents pushed these establishments, I must presume that their commissions are higher on these out-of-the-way Hotels (as will be the taxi fares for you!) I do recommend these Hotels if seclusion is what you desire.

Staying in town also makes your vacation so much easier, especially on those nights when you know a hangover is coming in on the 4 o'clock train the next morning (more on this later...). I whole heartedly recommend where we stayed, The Bahia Condo Hotel. The Bahia is situated on Cabo's main beach, El Medano, and is about a ten minute walk to downtown. Due to the strong currents from the Pacific Ocean, this is also the only safe swimming beach in the immediate area of the town; however, it is about 3 miles long and there is plenty of room for everyone! Right next door is The Melia San Lucas, undoubtably one of the best and probably the most expensive Hotel in town. Save 30-50% and walk the 3 minutes to the beach from the Bahia. Also, save lots of money and book your trip through Suntrips.

You must get to see a close-up of "The Arch". It has been formed by the tremendous waves which crash upon the southern tip of Baja California. It is the only place in the world where one beach is situated on two different bodies of water. It's pretty cool to see the dark blue of the Pacific Ocean right across from the emerald green of The Sea of Cortez. Lover's Beach is also near-by.

We just got back from our October 1997 vacation. I took a lot more pictures, digital this time, and have them categorized as best I could. The most fun we had the whole trip was once again the Sunset Cruise, AKA the Booze Cruise. We were also extremely lucky with the weather, absolutely no hurricanes or tropical storms in sight with bearable humidity.
