• Timeshare Timeshare Timeshare, always be aware of the timeshare individuals that are out to make your vacation a little less pleasant (If you like the timeshare idea and would like to always vacation the same hotel every year, than this is what you should look for). The presence of these individuals will start as soon as your plane lands. You cannot even get out of the airport before being harassed by these gurus of "information", "free breakfasts" or even "discounted activities" before boarding your ride into town.

  Don't be fooled by the "information" booths which are situated about every 30 feet along the main streets. Don't be fooled by the stores which look normal, but has pictures of a popular hotel on the wall, don't be fooled by the humorous and likable individual making the rounds at the restaurant, or, worst of all, don't be fooled by your newfound friend at the front desk in your hotel offering the free breakfast or discounted activities, they too are one of them.

  There is one person you can trust, you will find them in your hotel and will probably only meet this person after the timeshare people have tried their best on you. This person is sometimes known as the "activities director". He or she can more than likely get you the same timeshare discounts without even having to attend the "presentation". Just make sure that they are not selling timeshare or presentations, or as we asked "Are you one of them?" as we justured toward our hotel's timeshare individual. They will let you know that they are on your side.

• When renting a car, ALWAYS get full insurance. As the pictures in my pages can attest to, driving in Mexico can be a very hazardous affair. Although it doesn't rain often, when it does, the roads become washed out by sand rivers. There are very few drainage pipes (I didn't see but one in town), the rainwater causes the sandy mud to cover the roads, making them practically impassable. We got stuck two times on the way to Todos Santos. I felt very guilty driving that brand new VW over the roads I did. I never would have done so if it would have been my car.

• Always look around the whole town before spending a lot of money shopping. We we're disappointed when better deals were found later on in our vacation. One tip, the best deals are in the secluded, and "Flea Market" type areas. The classy stores need to make up their rents in higher prices.
